Is Astra compatible with LearnDash 3.0?
Will I be able to keep the settings that I managed with Astra even after switching to LearnDash 3.0?
What if I switch to LearnDash 3.0? Will this break my website?
These are a few questions among many more that were sent to us through the pre-sales queries, technical support forms and also on Facebook. We’ve answered all of them and are now here with a quick update of the Astra theme and the Astra Pro addon for LearnDash 3.0.
We will be seeing the answers for all the above questions by the end of this post. Before that, let’s begin by seeing what does LearnDash 3.0 has in store for us and how have we managed it in Astra.
To begin with –
Let’s Select a Template in LearnDash 3.0
The LearnDash 3.0 Template has the new changes included in it, while Legacy allows you to continue with the previous interface along with the earlier Astra options.
Astra behaves differently depending on the template you choose
LearnDash 3.0 – We have deprecated some options in Astra and modified a few to suit LearnDash 3.0
Legacy – Since LearnDash options remain as they are, Astra too continues showing you the options that were earlier available.
LearnDash 3.0 has added some more features in its default settings. Most of these were available in Astra. Therefore, to avoid the extra bloat and give you just one platform to manage the settings from, we have deprecated the duplicate settings from Astra and added some more color options if you wish to override the colors that come with LearnDash 3.0.
Deprecated LearnDash Features in Astra
As mentioned above, we have deprecated the following features from Astra and the Astra Pro addon.
Layout -> LearnDash
This tab no longer exists as LearnDash has added the options within itself.
- Distraction Free Learning [Removed] – LearnDash 3.0 has enabled a Focus Mode option that acts the same as the Distraction Free Learning of Astra.
- Students Gravatar in Primary Heading [Removed] – The Focus Mode of LearnDash 3.0 adds a student gravatar by default.
- Course Content Table [Removed] – LearnDash 3.0 no longer has a table structure. Therefore, we’ve removed the settings related to it.
Typography -> LearnDash [Astra Pro]
This section allowed you to manage the typography of the content within the table. However, since LearnDash 3.0 no longer has the table in it, this feature is now deprecated from the Astra Pro addon.
Modified LearnDash Features in Astra
While LearnDash has added a few options that compelled us to remove those from the theme, we’ve added some more options that you can use with LearnDash 3.0.
Colors and Background -> LearnDash
LearnDash 3.0 has added a basic set of colors that you can set and they’ll be fetched in different places on a website.
Astra Pro has a Colors and Background tab for LearnDash through which you can choose to override these LearnDash colors if needed.
Answering Your Questions!
Q1. Is Astra Compatible with LearnDash 3.0?
Answer: Yes! Both, the Astra theme and the Astra Pro addon is compatible with LearnDash 3.0! You can choose the Legacy Template if you wish to use the earlier options of Astra with LearnDash, or use the LearnDash 3.0 template and proceed using Astra options for LearnDash 3.0.
Q2. Will I be able to keep the settings that I managed with Astra even after switching to LearnDash 3.0?
Answer: Yes! Please make sure you select Legacy Template in LearnDash 3.0 to continue using the previous Astra settings.
Q3. What if I switch to LearnDash 3.0? Will this break my website?
Answer: No! Astra is working fine on all LearnDash websites we’ve come across and this is managed well in this update too.
Q4. Will Astra work with the Focus Mode of LearnDash 3.0?
Answer: Yes! It will. The Focus Mode feature is a default feature of LearnDash. Therefore, the Astra theme will work fine even when you have this feature on. We have in fact deprecated the Distraction Free Learning feature from Astra to avoid duplicate settings on a website. (In case of LeanDash 3.0 Template)

These are just a few changes we’ve made in the Astra theme and Astra Pro addon versions 1.8.6 each.

Again, I would like to remind you that the above changes can be seen only when you select the LearnDash 3.0 template. If you wish to continue using the settings in Astra, you can do so with the LearnDash Legacy Template. 🙂
